Timo Werner, who signed for Chelsea from RB Leipzig this season, ended his goal drought in English Premier League football as Thomas Tuchel’s side won 2-0 against Steve Bruce’s Newcastle at Stamford Bridge. Werner’s score came in the 39th minute of the match from a deflected Mason Mount delivery into the box. The first goal of the match was scored by Oliver Giroud who scored at the 20th minute from Werner’s cross after Newcastle’s goalkeeper Darlow couldn’t clear. Giroud came as a first-half substitute for Tammy Abraham, who was injured due to a robust legal tackle from Newcastle’s Lascelles. This win takes Chelsea into 4th place with 42 points ahead of Liverpool who are at 6th place with 40 points. In another premier league match, West Ham scored three goals and won against Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United. West Ham got a clear penalty, after Jesse Lingard was wrongfully tackled in the penalty box. Declan Rice scored from the spot in the 41st minute. Two second-half goals from Issa Diop and Fredericks saw West Ham getting all three points from the fixture.
In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich drew against Arminia in a thrilling home fixture with six goals. Arminia, sitting in 16th place in the league table, led 2-0 at the break. Vlap scored from the first Arminia attack in the match at 9th minute. Then, he assisted Pieper from a superbly taken corner. Bayern Munich replied early in the second half with Robert Lewandowski scoring with a superb finish from an assist by Alaba. Arminia replied one minute later at 49th minute scoring another goal restoring their two goals advantage. Then Tolisso scored for Bayern from an assist by Leroy Sane three minutes before the hour mark. Davies scored from a volley at 69th minute to draw the match for the hosts. Bayern are in the top of the Bundesliga with 49 points, five more than Leipzig in 2nd place.
In La liga, Athletic Club Bilbao won against Cadiz scoring four goals in the process. Atletico Madrid will play against Levante in the next match in La liga. The match was postponed in the second week of La Liga due to covid-19 related complexities. In Serie A, Verona won 2-1 against Parma. Parma got a penalty in the 9th minute. Kucka scored from the spot. Then Grassi from Parma scored an own goal in the 13th minute. Verona’s Barak scored the winning goal in the 61st minute.
