UFC is bringing the Championship triple-header in March in Las Vegas. President Dana White confirmed in an Instagram post in the last days of January. The news was announced in conjunction with a competition launched by the UFC. This competition will give the opportunity to a lucky fan and a guest to be present during the match as the only fan in the building.
The fixtures will be the first of two pay-per-view events for the month. The trifecta of the championship will first see Petr Yan defend his newly won bantamweight title against Aljamain Sterling. Additionally, women’s featherweight title-holder Amanda Nunes will go against first-time title-challenger Megan Anderson. The UFC title-card has headlined for the light heavyweight clash between Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya. Adesanya is a current middleweight champion, while Blacowicz will defend his title for the first time in the fixture.
Blachowicz puts his 205lbs belt for the first time on the line. Many have predicted victory, even an easy victory, for Adesanya against the Polish fighter. Blachowicz remains adamant though that this is yet another fight where he has been taken as an underdog. The Polish spoke about his hopes regarding the match. The Polish fighter described his cardio training in the mountains which, according to him, gives him the ‘legendary Polish power’. He said that he had had a vision of a highlight-reel finish of the fixture with him delivering a Knockout with a left high kick on his opponent’s head. Adesanya, the reigning middleweight champion, will eye a jump to the light heavyweight division.
Blachowicz has a total career earning of 1,652,000 USD, out of which he has grabbed several performances of the night bonuses worth 48,000 and 50,000 USD. The rest are guaranteed match fees and promotional bonuses.
On the other hand, Israel Adesanya’s net worth is predicted to be 2,000,000 USD. He has bagged several gigantic bounties in the UFC like 490,000 USD and 540,000 USD that included a performance of the night bonuses and fight week incentives.
Blachowicz is one of the biggest and heaviest among light heavyweight. Many analysts predicted that Adesanya would be bulking up for UFC 259 fight against Blachowicz. Adesanya’s coach Eugene Bareman has rejected such a claim. He stated that Adesanya will enter UFC 259 with his regular walk-around weight, which is nearer to 200lbs. He stated that it would hopefully give him an edge to win the fight. Without stacking on muscles and trying to get stronger than Jan which is practically impossible, the coach claimed that they are using other tactics and endeavors.
Other fights in the UFC 259 card include fixtures featuring Dominick Cruz vs. Casey Kenney, Thiago Santos vs. Aleksander Rakic and Sean Brady vs. Jake Matthews among others.
