The Darlington raceway on the Labor day weekend is going to be the venue for one of the most prestigious events of motorsports in 2020- the NASCAR playoffs. The 16 driver race is kicking off the four rounds of the playoffs that will be comprised of 10 races in total. The first round commences with trio races at Darlington, Richmond, and Bristol and then the field will be set for the top 12 drivers to compete in the rest of the NASCAR championships to race for glory.

The hiatus is finally over:

The NASCAR Cup Series makes its appearance at the Darlington raceway after mid-may which saw a couple of races being organized within a four-day span on the same track. The COVID-19 pandemic had a severe influence on the NASCAR Cup Series like the rest of the world and therefore contributed to making the racing season quite unorthodox. After a three-month-long hiatus, NASCAR Cup Series finally resumes its actions with three races to be organized at the Darlington Raceway for the first time in the history of the acclaimed track that features 367 laps with a combined distance of 501.322 miles.

The setup:

The 26-race regular season saw the drivers earning numerous playoff points that either depended on their positions in the race, acing the race itself or their podium finish while they finished their races. While the playoffs are underway, the cumulative playoff points awarded witness Kevin Harvick and Danny Hamlin as the drivers who are in the top two positions in the standings. They have a significant lead over their compatriots, the best of whom are tied at 29 playoff points. At the same time, Harvick has amassed 57 playoff points while Hamlin has managed to score 47. It will be an exciting rest of the season which will feature the close contest between these two and whether someone else from the bottom makes a dream run to the top and ascends to give these two stiff competitions.

The venue:

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race 2020 Cookout Southern 500 will be hosted at the Darlington Raceway, South Carolina.

Time and date:

The Cookout Southern 500 will commence at 6:00 pm ET on the 6th of September, 2020.
