Gilbert Alexander Pontes Burns was born on the 20th of July in1986. He is a professional mixed martial artist hailing from Brazil and is also a submission grappler. Burns takes part in the welterweight division of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). As a submission grappler, Burns has won the world championship three-times and is also a World Cup gold medallist. He has a younger brother by the name of Herbert Burns, who also takes part in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is ranked number 2 in the UFC rankings of the welterweight category as of September 22, 2020.

According to sources, Burns earns about $50,000 for showing in a fight and $50,000 as a bonus if he wins the fight, plus $10,000 for sponsorship earnings and $50,000 bonus as “performance of the night”.
